Sara dancing Baladi style

Sara performs Egyptian dance primarily as a theatrical and dramatic dance form, rather than the oriental dance, or belly dance style. Her performance style accentuates the inner stillness and dramatic possibilities of Raqs Sharqi as well as its exuberance, playfulness and sensuality.

Exploring the timeless universal quality of Raqs Sharqi also allows for a more contemporary interpretation in a theatrical context, sometimes combining it with other related dance forms and developing new ideas while maintaining the essentials of the dance.

Sara performs, wherever possible with live music, at a variety of venues: theatres, arts centres and festivals as well as weddings and parties and is a director of dance and live music performance company Raqs Wa Musica Al Masreya, www.raqswamusica.com
